Adore

Adore™ Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos ‘RutHib3’) is a dramatic herbaceous perennial featuring enormous pink flowers, deep red centers, and attractive burgundy-green foliage. Its tropical-looking blooms can reach impressive sizes and create a bold focal point during the heat of summer. Large pink flowers appear from mid to late summer above a dense, well-branched mound of foliage. The leaves develop rich burgundy tones with a distinctive soft texture, providing ornamental value even when the plant is not in bloom. The combination of dark foliage and oversized pink flowers makes Adore™ especially striking in mixed borders and mass plantings. Unlike Rose of Sharon, Adore™ Hardy Hibiscus is an herbaceous perennial. The plant dies back to the ground after frost and returns from its roots each spring. It thrives in sunny locations with consistent moisture and is an excellent choice for perennial beds, pollinator gardens, rain gardens, pond edges, mass plantings, and dramatic specimen plantings. Adore™ Hardy Hibiscus prefers rich soil with consistent moisture and performs particularly well in areas that remain moderately moist throughout the growing season. Watering:Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during periods of summer heat and active flowering. Hardy Hibiscus naturally performs well in moist conditions and generally requires more consistent water than drought-tolerant perennials. Fertilizing:Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring as new growth begins. Fertile soil, adequate moisture, and full sun will help support vigorous growth and its exceptionally large flowers. Pruning:Allow the plant to die back naturally after frost. Old stems can be left standing through winter and cut back close to ground level in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Spring Emergence:Hardy Hibiscus is naturally late to emerge in spring. Don't assume the plant has died if neighboring perennials are already growing. New shoots often appear once soil temperatures have warmed.

Passion

Head Over Heels® Passion™ Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos ‘RutHib2’) is a spectacular herbaceous perennial featuring enormous, bright pink flowers against dramatic dark burgundy foliage. Its combination of tropical-looking blooms and richly colored leaves creates a bold focal point in the summer landscape. Large, saucer-shaped pink flowers with contrasting red centers appear throughout summer, creating an impressive display above the dark foliage. Unlike tropical hibiscus, Passion™ is a cold-hardy perennial that returns from the ground each year, providing an exotic appearance in landscapes where tropical hibiscus would not survive winter. Its compact, well-branched habit makes Passion™ an excellent choice for perennial borders, mixed beds, mass plantings, pollinator gardens, containers, and around patios or pools. The large flowers also attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. More About Head Over Heels® Passion™ Hardy Hibiscus Herbaceous Perennial Large, Bright Pink Flowers Dramatic Burgundy Foliage Long Summer Bloom Period Compact, Well-Branched Habit Heat Tolerant Pollinator Friendly Attracts Butterflies & Hummingbirds Excellent for Borders, Mass Plantings, Containers & Specimen Plantings Tropical Appearance with Excellent Cold Hardiness Height: 3-4 FeetSpread: 3-4 FeetHardiness Zone: 4-10 Characteristics Sun Exposure: Full Sun Season of Interest: Summer into Early Fall Soil Moisture: Average to Moist Attributes: Compact, Flowering, Heat Tolerant, Pollinator Friendly Foliage Color: Dark Burgundy Flower Color: Bright Pink with Red Center Care & Maintenance Tips Planting:Plant in full sun for the strongest growth, darkest foliage, and best flower production. Hardy Hibiscus prefers rich soil with consistent moisture and performs especially well in locations that remain moderately moist during the growing season. Watering:Keep soil consistently moist, particularly during hot summer weather and while the plant is flowering. Hardy Hibiscus is more tolerant of moist conditions than many common landscape perennials and should not be allowed to remain excessively dry for long periods. Fertilizing:Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring as new growth begins. Fertile soil and adequate moisture will help support its vigorous summer growth and large flower production. Pruning:Hardy Hibiscus dies back to the ground following frost. Leave the stems through winter if desired for winter structure, then cut the old stems back near ground level in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Spring Emergence:Don't be concerned if Passion™ is slow to emerge in spring. Hardy Hibiscus is naturally one of the later perennials to break dormancy and may remain dormant well after many neighboring plants have begun growing.
