Electric Love® Weigela (Weigela 'ZR1') is a compact flowering shrub prized for its brilliant red flowers and striking dark burgundy foliage. Growing approximately 1-2 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide, it forms a dense, low-growing mound that provides bold color without taking up much space in the landscape.
Bright red, trumpet-shaped flowers appear in late spring to early summer, creating a dramatic contrast against the dark foliage and attracting hummingbirds and pollinators. The deep burgundy leaves provide excellent color throughout the growing season, making Electric Love attractive even when it is not in bloom.

Care & Maintenance Tips
Planting:Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering and deepest burgundy foliage color. Electric Love can tolerate some light shade, but excessive shade may result in greener foliage and fewer flowers. It prefers fertile, well-drained soil.
Watering:Water consistently during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Electric Love can tolerate occasional short dry periods but performs best with average moisture. Water during extended periods of hot, dry weather.
Fertilizing:Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring if needed. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can encourage excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowering.
Pruning:Very little pruning is required due to its naturally compact habit. If shaping is needed, prune immediately after the main flowering period. Weigela flowers primarily on older wood, so heavy pruning in late winter or early spring can reduce flowering.
