Limelight
Limelight Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight') is a large, dependable flowering shrub known for its enormous, cone-shaped flower clusters and impressive summer-through-fall display. Growing approximately 6-8 feet tall and wide, it develops a dense, rounded habit with sturdy branches and rich green foliage. Large lime-green flowers emerge in midsummer before transitioning to creamy white and eventually shades of pink, rose, and burgundy as the season progresses.
Limelight Hydrangea is an excellent choice for foundation plantings, flowering hedges, mixed borders, mass plantings, or as a dramatic specimen. Unlike many other hydrangeas, it blooms reliably on new wood and is exceptionally cold hardy. Its large flowers also attract pollinators and make excellent fresh or dried cut flowers.

Care & Maintenance Tips
Planting:
Plant in full sun to part shade. In cooler climates, Limelight performs exceptionally well in full sun, while some afternoon shade can be beneficial in hotter locations. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil with adequate room for the shrub to reach its mature size.
Watering:
Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Limelight Hydrangea can tolerate occasional dry periods, but it performs and flowers best with consistent moisture. Water deeply during extended periods of hot, dry weather.
Fertilizing:
Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring if desired. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can encourage excessive foliage growth and weaker stems.
Pruning:
Limelight Hydrangea blooms on new wood, making it easy to prune without sacrificing the season's flowers. Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Remove dead or weak branches and cut back the remaining stems as needed to maintain the desired size and encourage strong new growth.
