Little Gold Star
Little Goldstar Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Little Goldstar’) is a compact, long-blooming perennial prized for its masses of brilliant golden-yellow flowers and tidy, rounded habit. Growing approximately 14-16 inches tall and 14-18 inches wide, it provides the classic Black-Eyed Susan appearance in a smaller form that fits beautifully into residential landscapes and smaller garden spaces.
Beginning in midsummer, the plant becomes covered with golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers surrounding prominent dark brown centers. The abundant flowers continue into fall and attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators. If the seed heads are left standing after flowering, they can also provide food for birds later in the season.
Little Goldstar is an excellent choice for perennial borders, foundation plantings, edging, walkways, mass plantings, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, or containers. Its naturally compact growth makes it especially useful along the front of planting beds where larger Rudbeckia varieties may become too tall or wide.

Care & Maintenance Tips
Planting:
Plant in full sun for the strongest growth and heaviest flowering. Little Goldstar performs best in average, well-drained soil but is adaptable to a range of soil conditions. Its compact size makes it especially useful toward the front of perennial beds and along walkways.
Watering:
Water consistently during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Little Goldstar is relatively drought tolerant but will perform best with occasional supplemental watering during prolonged periods of hot, dry weather.
Fertilizing:
Very little fertilizer is required. If needed, apply a light application of balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can encourage unnecessary foliage growth.
Pruning:
Deadhead spent flowers if a tidier appearance or continued flowering is desired. Alternatively, leave some seed heads standing through fall and winter to provide food for birds and seasonal interest. Cut old growth back in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
