Little Zebra
Little Zebra Miscanthus (Miscanthus sinensis 'Little Zebra') is a compact ornamental grass prized for its distinctive horizontally banded foliage and graceful, upright habit. Growing approximately 3-4 feet tall, with flower plumes extending above the foliage, it produces narrow green leaves marked with bright yellow horizontal bands that create a unique striped appearance throughout the growing season. In late summer, attractive reddish-purple flower plumes emerge above the foliage before gradually fading to silvery-tan as they mature.
More compact than many traditional Miscanthus varieties, Little Zebra is an excellent choice for foundation plantings, mixed borders, mass plantings, screening, or as a colorful accent. Its bold foliage provides interest even before flowering, while the feathery plumes add movement and texture from late summer through winter.

Care & Maintenance Tips
Planting:Plant in full sun for the strongest growth, best foliage coloration, and most reliable flowering. Little Zebra prefers well-drained soil but is adaptable to a range of soil conditions once established. Allow enough room for the clump to reach its mature width.
Watering:Water consistently during the first growing season to establish a strong root system. Once established, Little Zebra can tolerate occasional dry periods, although supplemental watering during extended hot or dry weather will keep the plant looking its best.
Fertilizing:Little Zebra generally requires very little fertilizer. If needed, apply a light application of balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Avoid excessive fertilization, which can encourage weak or floppy growth.
Pruning:Leave the foliage and flower plumes standing through winter for added texture and seasonal interest. Cut the entire plant back to approximately 4-6 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring before new growth begins.
State Restrictions: Miscanthus sinensis is restricted, prohibited, or being phased out in certain states, including Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Connecticut, and Delaware. Please check your local regulations before purchasing.
